Can Beauty tame her Beast?

Driven to his death by the demon of Distrust, Baden spent centuries in purgatory. Now he’s back, but at what cost? Bound to the king of the underworld, an even darker force, he’s unable to withstand the touch of another…and he’s quickly devolving into a heartless assassin with an uncontrollable temper. Things only get worse when a mission goes awry and he finds himself saddled with a bride—just not his own.

Famed dog trainer Katarina Joelle is forced to marry a monster to protect her loved ones. When she’s taken hostage by the ruthless, beautiful Baden immediately after the ceremony, she’s plunged into a war between two evils—with a protector more dangerous than the monsters he hunts. They are meant to be enemies, but neither can resist the passion burning between them…and all too soon the biggest threat is to her heart.

But as Baden slips deeper into the abyss, she’ll have to teach him to love…or lose him forever.

Includes Q&A featuring J. R. Ward, Jeaniene Frost, Nalini Singh and more!

Baden reached the keeper of Defeat’s door and knocked hard enough to crack the wood.
Note to self: Buy a new door.
“Coming, coming.” A patter of footsteps rang out and the door swung open, revealing Strider’s mate, Kaia. She greeted him with a dagger in hand, her mass of red hair anchored in pigtails, her eyes bright with fury.
She’s armed…a true threat. Kill her!
Baden did his best to ignore the beast, staring over Kaia’s shoulder. He scanned the room, checking for hidden threats out of habit. Well. Her decorating style could probably be classified as a hoarder died here. “Did you reach your sister?”
“Yep. She’ll meet you at Downfall in an hour.”
“Thank you.”
“Save your thanks and do me a favor.” She gave the hilt of her dagger a kiss. “Next time you’re with Hades, demand to know each of William’s hideouts.”
The urge to protect suddenly overwhelmed him. Protect William? Or Hades?
Both. Destruction snarled inside his head. They are mine, and I will annihilate anyone who even thinks to harm them.
His mouth watered. Her blood, I’ll taste it. His hands itched. Her bones, I’ll break them.
As a predator, Kaia sensed his intentions and reacted accordingly, crouching, readying for attack.
Rational thought intruded: No, no. Not her.
But Destruction had already pulled back his fist to strike. At the last second, Baden regained a semblance of control, raining the fury upon the wall with punches and kicks.
The beast roared as more and more of Baden’s friends sprinted from their rooms, grabbing hold of him to try to stop him.
They dare try to restrain me?
Again, the beast was able to overtake him, flinging one warrior after another across the hall.
He laughed.
“How do we corral him?” someone shouted.
“Keeley.” Torin’s voice poured over the intercom. “You’re needed in Strider’s room. ASAP.”
“No time. We need Katarina,” a female called. “She calms him, I think.”
A handful of warriors rushed him at once, tackling him to the floor, but again, flinging them away wasn’t difficult. Power expanded his limbs, reinforced his bones. He was able to work his way to his feet.
I might fall, but I’ll never stay down.
A grinning blond stepped into his path. The male named Strider. Killing him would be a pleasure.
Baden screamed at Destruction. He’s my friend. They all are!
“Hey! Over here.” One of the women said, “I’m going to rip you a new asshole—in your face.”
Not my friends, Destruction told Baden as he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off her feet. Anya. Destruction had made of point of learning the identities of the residents. Know your enemy
“No!” Lucien shouted, tackling him from behind.
The goddess of Anarchy twined her legs around Destruction’s neck and, as he stumbled, squeezed with surprising strength.
From the corner of his eye, he spotted Katarina and the one named Ashlyn rounding the far corner. Both females stopped to gap at him. He paused, he wasn’t sure why, giving Baden the opportunity to regain a bit of control. Not enough to claim ownership of the body, but enough to slow him down as their wills clashed. He bellowed to the rafters.
“Run, Ash and take the girl with you,” Maddox demanded. “She’s only making him worse.”
Baden and Destruction worked together to pull Anya off their shoulders and drop her. They sidestepped Lucien and stalked to the woman who’d haunted them. The woman who belonged to them. If only for a little while.
“Go!” multiple voices screamed at once. The warriors were giving chase, trying to beat him to the object of his fascination.
Ashlyn attempted to tug Katarina away, but Katarina shook off her hold and stepped forward. Toward him.
The moment she reached him, she framed his face with her delicate hands. He had to crouch to allow the action, which wasn’t exactly a prime position to mount a proper defense—but worth it.
“What’s wrong with you?” she asked.
He drew in a breath, his usually useless lungs suddenly infused by the sweetness of her scent…as if he were coming back to life. “They are threats.”
“Wrong. There are no threats here.”
“They are threats,” he insisted.
She brushed her thumbs over the rise of his cheeks, gentle, so gentle, and yet still the action stung. But he didn’t pull away. The air between them thickened and crackled with awareness. He liked it.
The others stopped their pursuit and maintained a proper distance, whispering with incredulity.
“Is this really happening or am I hallucinating?” someone asked.
“Does the human have a magic hoo-ha?”
“You have a job to do,” Katarina reminded him, ignoring the others. “Why don’t you go do it, and I’ll take care of the threats here?”
He snorted. “You’re not strong enough.”
That earned a raised brow. “So you’ve told me.”
“Dude. Isn’t she married?” Kaia asked.
He snarled at the Harpy, though his gaze remained on Katarina. She’d lost weight and looked more fragile than ever, and yet her beauty took his breath away.
Breath he now needed to survive?
“Baden,” she said.
“Destruction,” he corrected.
“Since he’s affected by you, I’m willing to bet you’re affected by him. Why don’t I call you Baduction?” She smiled at him, inviting him to play with her. “And a hat tip to you. If your newest job is to stare at me, you’ve got it nailed.”
He didn’t know how to play, but he liked seeing her like this. Happy rather than despondent.
He shouldn’t care what she felt. Caring left him vulnerable.
He scowled at her. “Stay out of trouble today.”
“I will, but not because you ordered it. Because I’m a girl and girls are made of—”
“Sugar and spice,” he interjected, remembering the rhyme. Boys were made of snakes and snails.
“Wrong. Girls are made of vodka and ice. The two combined increase our tolerance for masculine nonsense.”

Athena Harrow is about to turn twenty-one, but there will be no celebration. What is there to celebrate when the world is ruled by demons?

She hates the darkness the demons brought with them and longs for the light to return to the world—a world she only vaguely remembers. The people in her forest village blindly accept the life the demons forced upon them, even tolerating the yearly ascension ceremony where all the girls who have turned twenty-one are either sent away to serve the Master Demon or left in the village and forced to procreate.

But Paymon, the assigned village demon, selects a different role for Athena, a role that pits her against the village. While she adapts to her new life, Erebus, a younger, more powerful demon, arrives, and Athena must play a dangerous game with his emotions in return for information about the demon’s reign of darkness.

As Athena’s dreams of restoring the light begin to fade, her life with Erebus takes an unexpected turn, and this time it’s her life being put to the test.

Set in the forest around Buttercrambe in North Yorkshire, England, INIQUITY explores the frightening, darker side of romance and the uncontrolled emotions it can unleash.
Purchase at: Amazon / Barnes & Noble

My first month living as Erebus’s wife was full of surprises. Whereas I’d fit into an easy routine with Paymon, with Erebus, I never knew what he’d do or say next. He’d kept his word about not torturing the villagers, or so he said. Sometimes I’d watch from my bedroom window, squinting through the darkness to try and see if there were any familiar sparks lighting the sky. There never was. But other times, I used his absence to visit Samael.
Erebus often left me alone for the day, pursuing his obsession with catching and killing vampires, and I began to be able to read his mood when he returned. If he’d killed even one vampire, his mood was light, almost carefree, and he was quite pleasant to be around. They were the times when I questioned him, allowed myself to relax a little in his company. They were the times it was easy to forget he was a demon. We often found ourselves laughing at the same things, but one of us was always quick to change the subject and halt the merriment. Neither of us could forget the situation we were in. Neither of us wanted to be here.
By contrast, when he’d had an unsuccessful day, found no vampires to kill, he’d be moody and sarcastic. He’d throw things around, sometime shooting his power at them so they exploded in the air, before settling at the desk and writing. I’d learnt not to question him when he came home on these days. But I couldn’t escape to my room. He wanted me in the room with him, ready to taunt and belittle me if the mood so took him. At those times I didn’t need to be reminded that he was a demon. And at those times my hate for him grew.
Whenever he was out riding Samael, I took the opportunity to translate the diary and search through the library for books that could tell me anything about the Master and the darkness. But I never found anything of any use, and the translation of the diary, one line at a time, still with lots of guesswork, was a long drawn out task. When Erebus was in a good mood, he promised to help me with the diary, and when he was in a bad mood, he threatened to burn it. And so now I kept it hidden in my room, under the deep mattress on my bed, the same hiding place as when I lived in the village.
The end of the first month of living with Erebus also marked the night of the village feast. But I couldn’t settle. I’d read the same page of my book several times. I fiddled with my hair, drawing out the long strands between my fingers. I smoothed and rearranged my dress, fidgeting on the sofa to get comfy. Erebus ignored me, he was too busy chuntering and swearing as he wrote notes.
“It’s the village feast tonight,” I said, looking up from my book.
“You should be there.”
“Why? So one of them can poison me?” He carried on writing, not showing any interest in moving.
“It’s their chance to thank you for providing the light over the fields and protecting them from the beasts in the forest.” I shuddered, my nostrils flaring as I remembered the vile heated breath of the creature I’d faced. I lifted a trembling hand to cover my nose, and squeezed my eyes shut, blocking out the terror induced scent and memory of when I’d faced one of them.
“I don’t need to go every month, surely? Wasn’t that something Paymon did? He set the monthly occasion. Strange really, I never viewed him as a demon who liked to party.”
I fixed him with a withering gaze, angry for so many reasons. “They’ll have killed a pig, cooked all day. All of it’s for you.”
“Athena.” Erebus laid his pen on the desk and swung around in his chair to face me. “They can still enjoy all their hard work. They can eat the food they’ve prepared. I actually think they’ll enjoy themselves a lot more with me not there.”
“You should still go.”
He chuckled before turning back to his desk. “I’m beginning to think you want them to poison me. You go if you want. I’ll not stop you.”
I curled my legs up underneath me. “I don’t want to go by myself.” It would feel weird going back to village when I’d not been there for over four weeks, never mind traipsing out into the cold that seemed to have grown in intensity over the last couple of days.
“Then you’ll have to stay here, with me.” He shot me an amused smile and then continued writing.
“I’d go if I could see the moon,” I said, risking an attempt at small talk.
“The moon? Why the moon? It doesn’t protect you from anything, regardless of what the old hag in the village says.”
“Myrtle,” I corrected him.
“I’d just like to see its white glow through the darkness that the Master put there. Do you like the darkness?”
“Not particularly.” He placed his pen on the desk and stood up, rubbing the back of his neck.
“So get rid of it.”
He laughed, the sound loud to my ears. “I don’t know how to.

Blog Tour: TIMELESS (Maiden of Time #3) by Crystal Collier Meet Your Doppelganger Quiz + Giveaway!

Welcome Crystal Collier here today to share her new book and introduce you to YOUR Maiden of Time doppelganger!

Series: Maiden of Time, #3
Author: Crystal Collier
Pages: 253
Publication: November 1, 2016
Publisher: Raybourne Publishing
ISBN: 9781629830056

In 1771, Alexia had everything: the man of her dreams, reconciliation with her father, even a child on the way. But she was never meant to stay. It broke her heart, but Alexia heeded destiny and traveled five hundred years back to stop the Soulless from becoming.

In the thirteenth century, the Holy Roman Church has ordered the Knights Templar to exterminate the Passionate, her bloodline. As Alexia fights this new threat—along with an unfathomable evil and her own heart—the Soulless genesis nears. But none of her hard-won battles may matter if she dies in childbirth before completing her mission.

Can Alexia escape her own clock?

What reviewers are saying:

“A magical, fast-paced, romantic adventure…” --T. Drecker, Bookworm for Kids

“A story of love...true and forbidden love. There's mystery…tension, action...everything.” –Chrys Fey, author of Ghost of Death

"SWOON." --Sherlyn, Mermaid with a Book Reviewer

The ground exploded next to Alexia’s foot. She stumbled backward, her broken-sword-turned-dagger clasped tightly in one fist as she scanned the horizon through raining debris. Men writhed across the beach in rawhide jerkins or white tunics bearing red crosses, the chaos of clashing metal like the roar of hungry lions.

Lions. The symbol woven into the enemy’s armlets and stamped upon their wooden shields—an emblem that marked them as King Edward’s elite killing force.
Lovely. Now the enemy had a catapult. Not that their sheer numbers weren’t bad enough. On a ship beyond the war-torn beachfront stood the wooden monster that had launched a boulder and scarred the earth next to her.

A jolt in her womb brought her hand up, the babe within pounding to break out and join in the battle. Soon. Very soon her child would enter the world, and her chance to save the Passionate would end. “You will have your time, little one.”

Alexia’s mere nineteen years were far too few to be with child and centuries away from her husband and home, far too few for her to be in the midst of a war. She clutched the pendant dangling around her neck, heavy metal too dull to hold any monetary value, and focused on the power stored within, pulling at its strength. Golden energy trickled into her fingers, like being filled with sunlight. The world around her slowed.

Weapons crept toward their intended targets, and battle cries thrummed, a rumbling bass.

Five months ago she’d discovered this raggedy band of talented people like herself, the Passionate. Unlike the powerful sub-society of Passionate she’d left behind, these were vagabonds and nomads, a struggling force who gathered others like themselves and fled to safety. They were more suited to living in holes and caves than behind four walls. Many had been rescued from noblemen who enslaved them and used their talents for gain, which brought about the current conflict: too many of the rich had lost their precious prisoners. They begged King Edward to send the Knights Templar—his witch hunters—after their slaves.

Alexia stepped through the slowed conflict, her burlap skirts pulling against her swollen womb like chainmail made for a giant.

Have you ever met someone who looks and acts like someone else you know?

These doppelgangers exist in life, so it makes sense they would exist in literature. Today, you can meet your alternate ego in the Maiden of Time trilogy. Answer 5 simple questions to find out which character is most like you. (Some villains included.)
