Release Day Blitz Book Tour: Shallow by Georgia Cates | Guest Post - My Writing Cave

Hi everyone!
Today is my stop on the Release Day Blitz tour for the book Shallow by Georgia Cates. Shallow is the 2nd book in the Going Under series. I have previously worked with the author back in July when she did a fun guest post for my blog, found here. So please help me in welcoming Georgia Cates back to do another fabulous author guest blog post.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope everyone will enjoy learning more about Georgia and her newest novel, Shallow.

Payton Archer's best friend, Claire, strives to be perfect in every way. Payton doesn't and this is her story.

Nick Hawke likes his car fast and his girls even faster. He blows through females quicker than his muscle car races down the "The Strip" in Collinsville and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Determined to avoid the devastation he has watched his father endure in the aftermath of his mother leaving, he believes there is no room in his life or his heart for a relationship lasting more than one night. He seeks happiness in things that won’t let him cars, adrenaline and one night stands. To his absolute dismay, all of that changes when he unexpectedly runs into an old friend and is introduced to Payton Archer, the first girl he ever wanted for more than one night. There’s only one catch...she is completely immune to him and his smooth talking ways.

Payton Archer is looking for what Claire has with Jessie, but she has given up on finding least until she leaves for college in the Fall because she is certain that is where she will find the perfect guy to fit into her perfect world. She plans on Summer being nothing but three uneventful months of fun, but it turns out to be anything but ordinary when Payton is introduced to Nick Hawke, one of Jessie’s old Collinsville friends. She is shocked by her immediate and intense attraction for “Hawke” because nothing about him is what Payton is looking for. Sure, he’s hot and sexy but he comes from Collinsville and that is definitely not on her list of prerequisites. Everything about him makes Payton’s heart speed because he is exciting and dangerous, but his fast car and the dangerous chances he takes aren't what scares Payton the’s the way Nick Hawke makes her feel every time he looks at her. Can Payton find that moment of total fearlessness and make the decision to leave the safe, shallow end of love to risk going under completely?

My Writing Cave by Georgia Cates

I am smiling from ear to ear. Why? Because I am completely stoked about sharing my writing cave with you today. Woo Hoo! (It’s highly possible that wasn’t appropriate author language. author language police here right now.)

I’ve been writing for about three years but I didn’t have my own private place until a couple of weeks ago. I started out writing in the “hobby room” in front of our family iMac but it was very difficult to be inspired with two young children and a husband constantly buzzing around me. After countless interruption, I took matters into my own hands and started writing late at night to get away from the distractions but that’s wasn’t the greatest solution either. I had daytime obligations and sleeping half the day didn’t work for our family. Imagine that.

I eventually abandoned the desktop and traded my old MacBook for a MacBook Air so my next writing spot became the recliner in the living room. Who can spell disaster? Apparently, me since I just did. Anyway...I jammed my earbuds into my ears (Ouch...forgot about that tragus piercing) and attempted to drown out the screaming and crying, but I could still see them. (I’m one of those people that sees a sparkle and says, “Ooooh, something shiny,” so that didn’t work for long.)

Finally, my husband insisted I deserved my own writing cave and I happily agreed so we recently turned one of the extra bedrooms into a writing cave and that’s where Georgia makes the magic happen. My cave consists of a huge big man chocolate velour recliner, (which I occasionally put in the reclined position and take a siesta) a side table with drawers so all of my things (meaning my much needed coffee) are within reach and a desktop I use for graphic designing and photo manipulation. I’m such a girly girl and I love to be surrounded by pretty things so I couldn’t fudge on the the decor. It’s simple, soothing and inspiring in rich colors I adore.

Aaahhh! Maybe I should call this refuge my Writing Haven instead of a cave. Cave sounds very...caveman like. Regardless, this is my beloved hangout. If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, swing on by and join me in my cave, my refuge, my haven. (Unless I’m writing and in that case, leave me alone.)
